I’ve had the opportunity this year to advise and mentor board members, startups, business owners and visionaries, male and female alike, in health, IT and financial spaces.
I don’t say it to impress you, but to impress upon you that there is an entire world out there wanting MORE in life, wanting to make a DIFFERENCE.
If you aren’t willing to settle for less, if you’re ready to play bigger, and you’re willing to make the kind of commitment real change requires, then you are in the right company and this moment is your moment.
BUT if you think it’s all up to you… well, quite frankly, it’s not.
It takes spectrum thinking (more about that at the Autumn Retreat). It takes you AND an audience. It takes management of YOUR BRAND (much of the reason why I’m consulted by businesses and individuals alike). Most importantly, it takes authenticity.
What’s spectrum thinking? In a nutshell, to go for a life that has real meaning, takes guts, takes determination and takes supreme confidence. It ALSO takes the exact opposites: humility, resilience, self doubt and faith in yourself and the Universe. More importantly – it’s about how you and your audience interact whilst you’re going through those emotions.
Who gets to see these sides of you and when is critical to your development. Your audience – your bosses, your customers, your patients, your family, even yourself at times (you know those cringe-worthy moments) – they are all watching as you play that good ol’ game called Life. They’re looking for subtle nuances in your movements, your decisions, your dress, your behavior – that tells them: She’s in the Game.
How you set and manage their expectations is entirely in your hands.
This is contrary to popular psychology – where messages like, “don’t sweat the small stuff”, “what you think of me is none of my business”, are eaten up as anxiety-quelling aphorisms by the masses.
If you want more, you’ll need to be more discerning than that: and go the next level up. It’s “International Space Station” stuff (more about that in the Retreat) and you know it’s within your power to set new expectations.
This is about how well you know yourself, how you empathetically connect with your audience, what information you give out and the energy you bring into the room. As Kenny Rogers says: you gotta know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em (just for laughs, I’ve added it to our Autumn Retreat playlist on Youtube)
And that’s fine for the game of life – the management of your Brand – but what about when it’s Living: ie just you, at your core? How you remain authentic in face of game playing takes different kinds of resources, including the ability to define you and your purpose – and this then strengthens your ability to manage your audience. More about this in our next email to you.
The question is: Do you have the wisdom and courage to know you can’t step into a bigger life without help?
Choosing to add a coach in your corner is the sign you’re ready to step into the limelight.
